DENMARK:

    * Japanese Ghost Stories - Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard, Tobias Kirstein & Jacob Kirkegaard featuring Keiko Higuchi (Japan) narrating Japanese ghost stories.
Keiko Higuchi is a extreme voice performer working with and thru her voice and body. She started out her career as a voice performer in boston, usa. since returning to japan in '98, she has been working in dance, theater and many collaborations aside from her solo work. she has performed with Keiji Haino and released several albums "ephemeral as petals" (utech records, usa) and "awai" the duo album with yasumune morishige (improvising beings, france) in 2013, "melt" with cris x (musik atlach, japan) in 2014, the third solo album "between dream and haze" (improvising beings, france) in 2016, and “passing and longing and there is only a trace left” (Atari) with the pianist, shin-ichiro kanda released in 2017.
On the this evening Keiko will also perform with bassist Louis Inage. He has previously recorded with Derakushi (released by legendary label PSF) and Miyanishi Keizo The Hundred Devils and number of japanese avantgarde bands. Live at Mayhem in Copenhagen. December 2nd. FB event HERE

    * TRANSMISSION: A new sound and light installation by Jacob Kirkegaard, commissioned by and created especially for Resonant Spaces: Sound Art at Dartmouth, an exhibition presented by the Hood Museum at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, U.S.
In the first-ever installation of sound art on Dartmouth's campus, produced in collaboration with guest-curator faculty member Spencer Topel, the Hood Museum of Art will showcase the work of emerging and established international artists with diverse aesthetic and cultural backgrounds. Seven site-specific and sound-based commissions will guide visitors across the Dartmouth campus and into the town of Hanover. Hood Downtown will feature a multimedia display introducing the exhibition and artists, as well as selected works from conceptual artist Terry Adkins (1953-2014). Artists creating new installations for the show include Bill Fontana, Christine Sun Kim, Jacob Kirkegaard, Alvin Lucier, Laura Maes, Julianne Swartz, and Jess Rowland. Runs until December 10th

    * Time is Local - a collaboration between the sound collective We like We and Jacob Kirkegaard, Time is Local is a 12-hour multichannel performance and live installation, in which the interplay and synergies between space, time and resonance are researched. This twelve hour long piece is composed for and at Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen and will premiere during G((o))ng Tomorrow Festival on Nov 4th between 12:00 noon and midnight. FB event HERE

    * Eustachia for Voices - Kirkegaard's otoacoustic composition for voices (2017) will be performed live at Tyska Kyrkan by the Swedish choir Birdies.     * As part of Podcast Festival Gry Bagøien and Jacob Kirkegaard meet to talk about their long-term collaboration Æter. The group existed between 1994 and 2001. Æter was an active part of the underground experimental music scene in the 90s. The group used field recordings, sound installation, concrete as well as electronic sound blended with voice, feedback, radio and live video.
In conversation and hosted by Anne Neimann Clement and Line Møller Lauritsen, Gry and Jacob will play recordings and show photos and video clips as well as talk about how they collaborated, recorded and elaborated their ideas. FB event HERE

    * Vestindiske Forestillinger (Imaginary West Indies) is a new sound and light installation created by Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard and Jacob Kirkegaard: 2017 is the centenary of the sale of Denmark’s former slave colony known as the Danish West Indies. To mark the occasion, Kirkegaard and Løkkegaard have created a sound installation using audio recordings from the islands to portray an imagined ‘Paradise Lost’. Exhibition at Overgaden, Copenhagen. Dates: 26 Aug – 22 Oct 2017.


    * Archive Fever! Sound Archives. A sound archive evening of presentations and discussions with Jacob Kirkegaard, Jonas Olesen, Jan Høgh Stricker from Institute of Danish Sound Archeology and Mads Kjeldgaard Nielsen from Passive/Aggressive. The evening will also feature a release / reissue of the sound piece Den dynamiske violin (Edition After Hand, 1977) by visual artist Mogens Otto Nielsen. Kunsthal Aarhus, Oct 11th. 7 pm - 9 pm

    * New sound work SIGNALS: a 4-channel sound work by Jacob Kirkegaard created for Code Art Fair in Copenhagen, that portrays the sound of early digital and coded communication. The work utilizes recordings of military morse code used to transmit classified communication between warships and naval bases. Morse code is a method of transmitting text information as a series of on-off tones in sequences of short and long signals called "dots" and "dashes. It was developed in 1837 and was used for early radio communication, before it was possible to transmit voice. Live @ Copenhagen Contemporary, Papirøen, Copenhagen, Denmark, September 2nd

    * Eustachia for Voices is a new microtonal vocal work composed by Jacob Kirkegaard Eustachia for Voices will be performed live by Aarhus Pigekor (Aarhus Girls Choir) on August 11th and 12th in Aarhus, Denmark. Choir leader is Helle Høyer Vedel. The event is part of SonicArk 2017, a project lead and curated by Swiss sound artist Andres Bosshard. Place/dates: Outdoor amphitheatre at Universitetsparken, Aarhus. Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm sharp. Duration 18 minutes.

    * Jacob performs at Andrew Fenchel's legendary LAMPO, Chicago, April 8th
    * Field trip with seismologist and assistant professor of Geology & Geophysics Jeff Moore of University of Utah, studying the natural vibration of rock arches in southern Utah / northern Arizona, among them the vibrations/tones of the Rainbow Bridge, a sacred feature for several local Native American Tribes. The data and sounds collected on this trip will be used for a new sound installation by Kirkegaard that will be shown in the U.S. this late Summer. Stay tuned for more info.
    * Field trip with composer Niels Lyhne Løkkegaard to U.S. Virgin Islands, which was a Danish colony, until exactly 100 years ago when Denmark sold the islands to the USA. Løkkegaard and Kirkegaard will visit the islands to collect sound recordings and inspiration for their new collaboration, entitled Vestindiske Forestillinger, which will be shown at Overgaden in Copenhagen, DK in August

JAPAN:
    * As part of the exhibition LEAN ISSUES Kirkegaard presents his new sound installation A Lecture on Nothing (2017) - an edit of cassette interview with John Cage in his New York apartment. All words were removed from the interview and remaining is the ambient sound of Cage's apartment. The interview was conducted by Julie Martin and Billy Klüver in 1991. Kyoto, April 15th - May 14th

    * Screening of Carl Th. Dreyer's silent film from 1928; The Passion of Joan of Arc with live soundtrack by Jacob Kirkegaard. The soundtrack was originally commissioned by and premiered at Onasis Culture Center in Athens 2014. An version for vinyl of the soundtrack was released on Holotype Editions in 2015.
