Site specific, 17 channel sound installation created for drained swimming pool. REfleksioner, Dragør, Denmark. March 2013
All sounds used in this work are recordings of geyser volcanic activity, which were recorded in Iceland by Kirkegaard in 2011
The recordings were made with acoustic microphones held at very close distance to the water holes, and with vibration sensors placed just below the surface of the earth
The 16 loudspeakers were mounted around the pool marking the line of the now non-existing water surface. These speakers play back the various different recordings made at the surface of the volcanic earth. At the bottom of the pool a subwoofer plays back the recordings made with vibration sensors below earth surface
